Sculptural Light Fixture

Wall-mounted light fixture with a pieced configuration, drawn from the symmetry
of butterfly wing patterns as they interact in groups.
The fixture is mounted to the wall by accentuating bronze brackets. This hardware,
specifically designed around the aesthetic of the swallowtail wing pattern, was
created with a four-step prototyping process.
A 3-D SolidWorks CAD file was used to produce four separate, identical wax models via
rapid-prototyping. The waxes were cast in bronze, using the lost wax method. The resulting
bronze pieces hand-finished and attached to the outmost corners of the shade, mounting it
to the wall and helping to maintain its 3-dimensional form.
